STS evaluates the impact of all its interventions by measuring two things: inputs and results.

Inputs are "things put into the mix," like training, materials, and small grants - all things STS provides. See what STS has provided since its inception in 2002.

Important as these inputs are, they are not enough if they do not lead to the results (our outcomes) we seek - our raison d'etre.

The main outcome we seek is improved learning on the part of all children in elementary school - not only academic gains, but also Increased confidence, ability to learn independently, and the ability to think critically. These are our two main indicators of success.

In order to achieve this success, we also measure things that lead to this success. These "supporting indicators" are:

1. Improved enrollment, attendance, and completion of elementary school for boys and girls.

2. Improved knowledge, attitudes and practices on the part of students, teachers, and parents.

3. Increased teacher and parent awareness of the importance of children's health in learning.

4. Increased use of active and relevant instructional methods.

5. Increased parent involvement in children's learning at home and at school.

6. Well-managed and child-friendly schools that care for all boys and girls equally.

Regular STS monitoring and evaluation exercises track progress in each of these areas.
