Resources
General resources: The teachers' toolkit provides a wealth of information on how to organize the pen pal program in your school and the pen pal program calendar provides a detailed list of tasks that must be completed by set dates.
Educational resources: The educational video and educational powerpoint presentation are great resources to help students learn more about Guinea. The list of websites below provide detailed background information on Guinea.

Fundraising resources: The resources in this section consist of a donor form that is to be filled out by all donors interested in receiving a tax receipt, a draft letter that can be used to send to partners (e.g. other schools) who are interested in participating in a fundraiser, a reading record and pledge record to be used in organizing a read-a-thon, and a powerpoint presentation that explains the importance of raising funds to improve access to water and sanitation facilities at our partner schools in Guinea.
Networking
Facebook:
- Join the School-to-School Pen Pal Portal Facebook group to network with other teachers about the program, educational resources and fundraising ideas. At the beginning of the school year, we will send you an invitation to join this group. You can join at anytime throughout the year.
Email list:
- Add your name to an email list that will be sent out to all teachers participating in the pen pal program. This will allow teachers to ask questions or share ideas related to the program, educational resources and fundraising ideas. At the beginning of the school year, we will send out an email asking whether you are interested in being added to this list. You can decide to add your name to the list at anytime throughout the year.

Pen Pal Update: The 2011-2012 Pen Pal Program is full. We have over 1,100 participants this year! How exciting! If you would like to be added to list for next school year, please contact us. Thank you all for your interest!
New to the Pen Pal Program: Seven amazing High School Seniors are volunteering their time for the Pen Pal Program this year. As students of the French 4 class at Terra Nova High School in Pacifica, CA, their instructor is using this program as a lesson in real-world use of language skills. The students translated 40 letters each, which took 12 hours! They will be translating the return letters from French to English in January. The local newspaper recently wrote an article about their experience.
The Pen Pal Program is funded by donations and uses the assistance of volunteers to keep growing each year. Please contact us if you'd like to help.
