School-to-School International provides an 8-point model of support to our partner schools in Africa so all children can learn better.

Why this model?
Based on their experience working in African countries for over 20 years, Dr. Mark Lynd and Dr. Jeff Davis, the founders of School-to-School International, have identified these components of the STS model as essential ingredients of successful education in any context, in Africa or elsewhere. They are also ingredients that are often sorely lacking in many African schools, especially rural ones.
Of course, any one of these components could be removed, and children would somehow manage to learn. And gifted children, or children from supportive home environments, will learn, regardless of the circumstances.
But for most children, failing to provide support in any of these 8 areas will mean a reduction in their ability to learn, or to benefit from schooling over time.
We know from experience and from research that if the 8 things in our integrated package are provided, children will learn well. We also know that they will be more likely to stay in school and, when they leave school, have higher incomes and healthier families, thereby able to contribute to peaceful, democratic societies.
