School-to-School Built New School for Children in Guinea, West Africa
May 30, 2009 - Upon the request of the Kabata community, to improve the school conditions for their children, the Alcoa Foundation and School-to-School International, assisted in the construction of a new school building.

The children from the Kabata community are now able to study in a school that protects them from the elements. During the rainy season which extends from June to September, heavy winds and rains often prevent children from attending school.

The new school will also improve the health of the school environment by preventing animals from seeking shelter and deficating in the classrooms.

Although the Kabata schoolchildren now have a healthier studying environment, School-to-School International will continue to support the school by supplying teacher training workshops, school supplies, and other programs.
