June 9, 2009 – School-to-School is happy to announce that we have raised over $4,000 in donations for our Girls Education Project in Guinea.
Our fundraising continues as our goal is to finance the project in all our partner schools.
In Guinea, less than half of school-aged girls complete their elementary school education and make it to middle school. Girls who drop out of school are more vulnerable to poverty, maternal mortality, hunger, violence, abuse, exploitation, trafficking, and illness.
To break this cycle, we have developed an integrated package of support that specifically addresses the barriers for girls to attend elementary school and graduate. Considering STS currently has 31 partner schools in Guinea, the impact of this girls’ education project will be widespread.
