Alcoa gives third grant to STS
In August 2008, STS was proud to receive its 3rd grant from the Alcoa Foundation to support health education and instructional improvement in elementary schools where Alcoa Aluminum is operating.
This grant will finance the Alcoa School Health and Education (ASHE) III project, in which STS will:
- rebuild a dilapidated elementary school in order to encourage children to keep coming to school
- provide school management training for sustainability in schools already served in ASHE I and II, and
- expand STS' community grants and FRESH training model into 8 additional schools in the Sangaredi region of the country.
With the expansion under ASHE III, STS will be working in 30 schools in the prefectures of Coyah, Dubreka, and Boke, including Kamsar and Sangaredi - all along coastal Guinea:
